Tubing at Bogus Basin

Having been in Boise for so many years, this is the first time I tried tubing. I always thought that skiing would be 10X time than tubing but I was wrong! It was so much not having to use any strength and gliding down the steep hill was sure exciting. Little Collette is too young for it so she spend most of the time sleeping in a stroller....

Portland/Oregon Coast Trip

It's time for a family outing again. Since Collette's daycare is closed on Monday for Teacher's Conference (whatever that means), we decided to take a trip down to PORTLAND/OREGON COAST. This was the very first time, we as a whole family(included Toby), leaving on a road trip. We were somewhat nervous about bringing both babies at the same time since they both can be really pretty demanding. The weather sure did not help since it was always at about 10+°c and sure the wind was blasting. However, we still had a marvelous time. We were at downtown Portland for the first day and we headed straight to the Oregon Coast on the 2nd day. This place is an awesome place with breathtaking view of the pacific ocean. There are so many picture perfect places that you could spot and I just can't help but snap plenty of photos. This place is now my ideal place to retire. Here are a few to share with you guys....

Beautiful Sunset at Cannon Beach

Crescent Beach, view from Ecola State Park

Yaquina Head LightHouse, north of Newport

Hay Stack Rock at Cannon beach. Cannon Beach is my favorite place of all..

Multnomah Falls along I84 highway, outskirt of Portland City

Singapore Food!

What are the chances that you could find Singapore Food several thousand miles away from Singapore? Yup, and I was so damn lucky to locate one in Portland. The feeling is just like picking up gold on the street.. The restaurant is called the 'Malay Satay Hut' and is owned by a Malaysian. We ordered HorFun, Satay and Char Kuay Teow and I wish we could have ordered more.. oh well....

Click on this link if you are interested what else they have in the menu...

Peach and Apple Picking

It's Peach and Apple Picking Time.

The peach and apple picking season usually starts around 1st week of August and will continue to mid September. There is always an art to everything and this of course peaching fruit is one of them. Rules : Peaches are best picked when the fruit separates easily from the twigs. If it is hard to pull off the tree, it isn't ripe. Color of the peach plays a important part too but the most important is to look out for is definitely the smell - the sweeter the smell, the tastier the peach it is! We had a awesome time picking these sweet and cheap peaches...

Downtown Farmer's Market

During the hot summer season, Boise's have many summer activites like water rafting, hiking, camping, floating the Boise river and many others. Since Collette is so young, we have to pretty much skip all the adventurous activities. There is also a Saturday Farmer's Market in downtown which I have never been before. It has been going on for a while (at least for the time I have been here). We decided to check it out and it reminds me of the 'Basa Malam' that we have back home but classier one lah... You can find things from food, fresh vegetables, exotic candles to performance...

Happy Father's Day

This day, we decided to go on a cherry picking trip with some of the Singaporeans that were here in Boise. Cherry picking season only last for about 2 weeks in a year. I thought it was a good idea to celebrate Father's Day. You could pretty much taste as much cherries as you want for FREE as you picked or bring them home for only a dollar a pound. Singaporeans would definitely takes advantage of this as we are known to be KIASU.. hahaha... Anyway, we picked over 20 pounds for just $20. It is so worth it!!!

As for dinner, we decided to prepare the ingredients for dumpling making session. Chris has always loved the dumplings that we have made. However, it was Chris's Dad first attempt. It turned out pretty good.

Shoshone Falls

Today is Memorial Day (a holiday in America)We decided to spend this day with Elan's Family to Shoshone falls. The last time I have been there was 4 years ago. We did not get to see anything (water level is low) due to drought. So 4yrs later, we are trying our luck again and guess what......

My First Trip to Singapore

Collette got to travel to Singapore for the first time when she's only 2 months old. It was such a long flight(~24hrs) but it is definitely a worthwhile trip since she got to meet all the people who adores her. Thanks everyone for making us feel like home when we were there.(hmm... Singapore was a place where I once called home... sigh....)

Besides meeting all the relatives, Collette also got to see the great side of Singapore.... she has visted Orchard, BugisJunction, Vivocity, Suntec, Marina, Toa Payoh and many many other places... She totally agrees that Singapore has great shopping and food.... haha.....

Las Vegas

Las Vegas was Collette's first airplane ride(she's only 2months old now). Friends have told me that I'm crazy to bring a 2mth old on a plane ride, not to say we are going to Las Vegas... crazy mommy!!! I thought it would be a great testing ground before the long 22hr flight to Singapore. She actually did pretty good on this plane. Also, since my parents and 'yiyi' debbie are here, it would be nice for them to see the glamorous city of Las Vegas. In fact, the problem we have in Vegas did not come from Collette.. it came from my dad complaining being having to walk too much (old man).. haha... In fact, everyone single one of us enjoyed this trip very much...
